The Vashon Island Chorale presents three major masterworks from the 19th century, joined by four soloists and a full chamber orchestra of twenty-one strings, winds, and percussion. Rossini composed his dramatic and often ebullient Stabat Mater, one of the great Catholic prayers, twenty-two years after his retirement from the opera stage. Two works by Brahms, Schicksalslied and Nänie, continue the theme of solace, comfort, and hope.
