Vashon Center for the Arts offers our community a wide range of educational opportunities for all ages through our Vashon Center for Dance and Arts Education programs. While we make every effort to offer our classes at affordable prices, we recognize that members of our community may need financial help in order to pursue their passion for the arts.

The VCA Scholarship Program offers needs-based financial assistance to applicants. While we give priority to children and young adults, we consider applications from all potential students.

Scholarship recipients are expected to meet the following class standards in order to continue to receive financial support:

Scholarships may be awarded for up to 75% of the price of the class (please email our registrar at belle@vashoncenterforthearts.org if you are in need of additional assistance)

Scholarship funds may only be used for programming that is produced and managed by Vashon Center for the Arts.

Individuals seeking a scholarship must follow these steps:

  1. Enroll in your desired class(es) through our website. You will need to have a credit or debit card on file on your account (it will prompt you to enter this info). At check out, it will show the full price of the class(es) and ask you to “Accept enrollment fees and continue” – click that button (your card will not be charged until your application has been processed). After clicking that button, you will receive a confirmation email which means that your spots have been secured. If you do not receive this email, then your enrollment did not go through.
  2. Immediately after you enroll, go to the scholarship tab of our website and fill out the scholarship application. Your application must be submitted within 1 hour of enrollment to ensure that you do not get charged the full tuition amount.
  3. We will review your application and apply scholarship funds awarded to your account. Once awards have been made, we will send a follow up email communicating your awarded amount, remaining tuition balance and next steps.

Program Purpose:

To support and encourage a lifelong involvement with the arts. Scholarships exist thanks to the generosity of VCA donors. Each year, at VCA’s annual Gala Art Auction, much-needed funds are raised during the Special Appeal to fund the Blue Heron Education Center and Scholarship Fund. If you would like to contribute to the Scholarship Fund and help ensure that Dance, Arts Education, and Music are available for families regardless of their economic circumstances, please contact us at 206.259.3007.

Land Acknowledgment
Vashon Island is the traditional homeland of the sx̌ʷəbabš (pronounced Schwa-ah-babsh) people, a once thriving Native community decimated by colonization. VCA is committed to stewarding this land, fostering creativity, and honoring indigenous culture through the arts.

Diversity and Inclusion
We celebrate diversity in all aspects of the work we do and support an environment of inclusion, racial equity, and social justice in our programming and operations. We welcome all individuals to our campus and steward them with respect and dignity. We hold our patrons and all affiliates to the same standard: our home is a center for all, regardless of race, place of origin, sex, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or class.
