D’Vonne Lewis
A three-time Seattle Earshot Jazz “NW Instrumentalist of the Year” (2013, 2018, 2021) and grandson of Northwest organ legend Dave Lewis, drummer D’Vonne Lewis is a versatile force across jazz, big band, funk, hip-hop, rock, Brazilian, and African styles. A Roosevelt High alum and three-time Essentially Ellington drum soloist (2000–2002), he also earned Earshot’s 2006 Emerging Artist award and The Stranger’s 2014 Genius Award, and serves on the Seattle Jazz Fellowship board. Lewis has recorded or performed with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Wynton Marsalis and the LCJO, Maria Schneider, Digable Planets, Stone Gossard, Christian McBride, John Clayton, Savion Glover, George Porter Jr., George Cables, Dee Daniels, Diane Schuur, Marian McPartland, Julian Priester, Hadley Caliman, and more.
Marc Seales
Pianist/keyboardist Marc Seales is a cornerstone of Seattle jazz—Earshot Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year (1999), Acoustic Jazz Group of the Year (2000, 2001), and a 2009 Jazz Hall of Fame inductee. A longtime Professor of Music and Chair of Jazz Studies at the University of Washington, he’s balanced teaching with an active career alongside Ernie Watts, Joe Henderson, Art Pepper, Benny Carter, Mark Murphy, and others. Seales’ evolving bands have headlined top regional venues—including a legendary 26-year monthly run at the late Tula’s—cementing his status as the city’s first-call pianist.
