Spring into Nature-Based Art

Spring into Nature-Based Art
Ages: 7-11
Fridays, May 14-June 11 | 1:30-3 pm
Tuition: $90 (includes $15 materials fee)

Location: Heron Meadow

Create art based on your imagination and observation of the natural wonders blooming all around you. Each week will focus on a different project that includes observation of nature. Students will paint from observation, creating colors out of plants and natural pigments; build with clay incorporating natural elements; create mobiles with "nature finds" using wax and paint; create birds and other animals using collage techniques and have a good time together making art outdoors.

Fire up your creativity to write and record songs! Find inspiration for songs and lyrics through theatre games, word and picture collaging, listening sessions, journaling and outdoor adventures. As your songs take shape, record them using a basic recording unit and high-quality microphones. Camp culminates with a full-length CD and CD release celebration.

This camp is for anyone who loves ALL the art supplies! Explore your creativity and create mixed media 2D pieces in a variety of mediums. Projects include collage with handmade elements; printmaking and altered books; and drawing and painting with layers. Work with a variety of provided materials: watercolor sprays and sticks; acrylic paints and mediums; natural earth pigments; collage materials and found objects; fine line pens; alcohol markers; chalk pastel; and a wide selection of papers and substrates.
