About Vashon

Vashon Island is just a short ride from most of the Puget Sound area. It’s like another world just across the water. Vashon Town is located just five miles south of the north end ferry terminal, which services Fauntleroy (West Seattle) and Southworth (Port Orchard) travelers. The south end ferry dock is a lovely 10-mile drive to town arriving from Pt. Defiance (Tacoma). There are four blinking lights on the Island, and most directions start with “after the second blinking light from your ferry dock, turn…”

If you are coming from Seattle

DRIVING YOUR OWN CAR

Please keep in mind the following:
Friday, July 12
: Commuter traffic begins mid-afternoon. Consider meeting the 2:45 or 3:05 boat and enjoying a drink and diner on Vashon. Plan on taking the 9:55 ferry back to town.

Saturday, July 13: Vashon is a big wedding destination, and there are many planned for this day. Traffic getting onto the island starting later in the morning to mid-afternoon will be difficult (plan on waiting at least an hour to get on a boat). Consider coming in the morning and spending the day on Vashon (see link for things to do), or coming late in the afternoon.

Sunday, July 14: Consider coming early for brunch on the island and then heading to the matinee. Traffic will less difficult than Saturday.

WALKING-ON / VCA SHUTTLE
As an alternative to driving, why not take a bus or ride-share (uber or lyft) to Fauntleroy Terminal and leave the driving to someone else from there? Simply buy a walk-on ticket at the booth and take advantage of our shuttle service on the other side.

The following are Fauntleroy departure times that coincide with our shuttle being available when the ferry docks at Vashon:

Friday, July 12 – PROGRAM ONE performs at 7:00PM

Fauntleroy to Vashon ferries departing at 5:40PM and 6:15PM (shuttle will be waiting at Vashon ferry terminal and will transport riders directly to VCA)

At the conclusion of the performance, shuttle service will depart VCA at 9:25PM to arrive at the Vashon Dock in time for the 9:55PM sailing to Fauntleroy.

Saturday, July 13 – PROGRAM ONE performs at 7:00PM

Guests interested in dining on Vashon can catch a shuttle into Vashon town center prior to the performance. The shuttle will meet guests arriving at the Vashon ferry terminal for passengers leaving Fauntleroy on the following departures:

4:05PM, 4:30PM, 4:55PM

After dinner, you can catch a shuttle from town to VCA at 6PM and again at 6:30PM

For the performance only, the shuttle will meet guests arriving at the Vashon ferry terminal for passengers leaving Fauntleroy on the following departures:

5:25PM and 6:05PM (shuttle will be waiting at Vashon ferry terminal and will transport riders directly to VCA)

At the conclusion of the performance, shuttle service will depart VCA at 9:25PM to arrive at the Vashon Dock in time for the 9:55PM sailing to Fauntleroy.

You can arrange a taxi or ride share to pick you up at Fauntleroy (approximate crossing time: 15 minutes).

SHUTTLE SERVICE FEE: $10 roundtrip

Guests planning on utilizing the shuttle service will be asked to pay $10 when boarding the bus.

Biking to and Around the Island

Bikers are welcome on Vashon! Bikers are loaded with walk-on passengers prior to car loading on all Washington State Ferries. Metro buses on Vashon are all equipped with bike racks. Many businesses in town and around the Island offer bike racks or spaces for bike parking at their facilities. While Vashon has few bike lanes, many roads offer wide and comfortable shoulders. Please note many waterfront roads are unable to offer this accommodation. Bike safely and enjoy!
