Vashon’s inaugural Poet Laureate, Ann Spiers co-produced the first Poetry Fest and curated a poetry broadside exhibit at Island Hardware. She belongs to the Island’s haiku group, Mondays at Three. She invites all to post poems on the Poetry Post in Vashon’s Village Green.
Her poetry chapbooks include Long Climb into Grace (FootHills) and The Herodotus Poems (Brooding Heron). Designed by May Day Press book artist Catherine Michaelis, Tide Turn, Volcano Blue and Wild Taste are in the Special Collections of Stanford, UW, British Library, and many others.
She served as Vashon Audubon president, as stewardship staff and compiled property baselines for the Land Trust. She co-wrote Walks, Trails and Parks on Vashon Island. This guide and Bunker Trail, her recent poetry book, are available at Vashon Book Shop.
