Garden #5

Address provided with ticket purchase

Development of the Carhart Garden began in 2000. The 2.5 acre sloped, Northwest style garden overlooks Quartermaster Harbor. Naturalistic plantings with unusual woodland plants and ferns line strolling paths that meander among Japanese maples, species rhododendrons and hydrangeas. Visitors will find lovely places to sit, pause and reflect. In 2007, the Carhart’s developed a hillside waterfall and pond, both inspired by Asian influences. Sculptures by international as well as Washington state artists — including Julie Speidel, Dominic Benhura and Clare Dohna — accent the garden. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk on gentle slopes and/or stairs.

We are so grateful to JR Crawford and the Vashon Maury Island Garden Club for providing shuttle transportation! First Student has also generously provided shuttle access. Please park on Dockton Rd SW for a short, .2 mile walk or ride to the garden.
