We’re thrilled to offer our guests and patrons a 2019 gallery year filled with fabulous solo and group shows in our Koch Gallery and Fong-Wheeler Atrium. We also feature intimate solo pop-up shows in our Joy and Chai Mann Kiosk to showcase smaller works at accessible price points.
While the art in our galleries come from artists up and down the Pacific Northwest, our direction, curation, and display are rooted in Vashon. The 2019 shows were juried by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic Vashon artists and art lovers. Islanders have lent us their deep expertise and love of the arts to help curate individual shows. Talented gallery pros have signed on to help us hang these wonderful shows.
We encourage all our gallery visitors to bring their sketchbooks, blank books, or notepads. Come on opening night, but by all means come back when you can spend time writing a verse, doing a sketch, or just sitting quietly with the art.
KOCH GALLERY - Lynette Charters “Missing Women” highlights how underrepresented women artists are in history, Heather Goodwind’s slow reckoning of self -awareness drawn out in a series of improvised narratives and Cyra Jane's stone sculptures from her meditative practice of the art and reaction patterns.
Over 50 students, Freshmen – Seniors, including fifteen AP (advanced placement) students will showcase their work. Art includes ceramics, drawing and painting (watercolor, acrylic, ink, graphite pencil) and printmaking.
ALL GALLERIES - Curated by studio e gallery founder and director Dawna Holloway "TREE" celebrates the spirit of arboreal community by assembling works from a diverse, eclectic range of artists united by a common theme. While each artist in this show has evolved a distinctive style and individual areas of interest, they all overlap in these works exploring the forms, colors, and nature of trees.
The Koch Gallery at VCA offers new gallery exhibits on a regular basis (usually monthly) including paintings, sculpture, mixed media, photography, wood, glass, ceramics and fiber. The Koch Gallery (pronounced “kah-sh”) encourages proposals for solo and group shows and installations.
