Location: Blue Heron (In person)

Create a painting or drawing representing an interior space, using multiple sketches to arrive at a thoughtful conclusion. Explore different watercolor techniques and look at the work of different artists for inspiration, focusing on depth, texture, color and emphasis. Carolina will provide live demonstrations and feedback to help students delve inward to discover their own personal style.

Supply List:

Watercolor Paper: 2 or 3 22×30 sheets of Arches 140 lb. or 300 Cold Press cut into fourths.

Brushes: Taklon, synthetic or sable, any brand

  • Flat wash – 3/4 or 1 inch preferred
  • Round #8 or #10
  • Round #6 or smaller

Palette: any style white, plastic or porcelain

Paints: Pan set or tubes with the following suggested basic palette:

  • Cool Red – Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Magenta
  • Warm Red – Cadmium Red Light, Light Red or Vermillion
  • Cool Blue: Ultramarine Blue
  • Warm Blue: Thalo Bue
  • Warm Yellow: Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna
  • Cool Yellow: Light Yellow
  • Earths: Sepia, Burnt Sienna or Quinacridone Sienna

Miscellaneous:

  • Note paper and blank sketching paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Spraying water bottle
  • Mounting board
  • Masking Tape for mounting paper
  • Water Container
  • Small towel or sponge
  • Table Easel if you have one
  • Pencils
  • Pigma Micron 006 Pen
