Vashon Maury Chamber Orchestra returns to Kay White Hall for a matinée performance featuring island musicians and student soloist–as well as guest performers–in a program that will both surprise and delight audiences of all ages. The orchestra will be led by director, Danielle McCutcheon. A long-time soloist and guest performer with VMCO, Danielle takes the helm this winter leading VMCO rehearsals and creative direction. We are so thrilled to see this concert come together—and grateful to former directors, Karin Choo and Justin Cole, as VMCO enters a new and exciting chapter.
Soloist, Maria Bokor has performed contemporary chamber music ranging from the jazz improvisation of New York violinist Leroy Jenkins to the Bartok Quartets, as well as exploring baroque performance practice. She is an active teacher of viola and violin in University Place, and performs with Symphony Tacoma, including educational outreach quartet programs. Her primary viola mentors were Misha Geller, Russian violist and composer, Gerald Stanick of the Fine Arts Quartet, Jaroslav Karlovsky of the Prague Quartet, and David Holland at the Interlochen Arts Academy.
