Art historian Rebecca Albiani speaks about in 1988, the Guerilla Girls listed “Knowing your career might pick up after you’re eighty” as one of their satirical “Advantages to Being a Woman Artist.” 36 years later, not much has changed. We will look at the careers of some important women artists, such as Alma Thomas, Louise Bourgeois, and Carmen Herrera, who bloomed late in life.
