Art historian Rebecca Albiani speaks about both assemblage artist El Anatsui and painter Atta Kwami draw on the textile traditions of their native Ghana in different ways. Anatsui sews together metal seals from liquor bottles to create powerful fabric-like friezes, while Kwami uses the strip weaving aesthetic as an inspiration for his colorful geometric abstractions.
