Late Start Arts: Ecosystem Art
Fridays, Sept 2-Jan 20 | 9-10:30 am (skip holidays and school breaks)
Tuition: $380 General | $350 Member (includes $75 materials/snack fee)
Instructor: Sara Bennett
Location: Blue Heron Gallery
Students will create projects that inspire them to consider their uniqueness as individuals, and slowly broaden their scope to consider their part in larger spectrums… family, homes, community, Vashon Island, and our amazing ecosystem. Expect to decorate body tracings, assemble self-portraits, “grow” family trees, build miniature houses, create representations of Vashon businesses and landmarks, construct a ferry project, paint a wall hanging of our beloved Vashon-Maury Island, create mosaics from fir and cedar cones, design monograms from seashells and sand, make driftwood mobiles, paint beach rocks, and play with different mediums to represent the likeness of orcas, jellyfish, starfish, owls, raccoons.
Our Fall to Early Winter Late Start Arts series provides enriching, creative activities on Chautauqua Professional Development Days (PDD). Students take the bus from VCA to school after class. Tuition includes snack and art supplies. Late Start Arts is open to homeschoolers as well.
