On selected Saturdays, jazz bassist Bruce Phares invites accomplished musician friends and colleagues to help him fill the Atrium at Vashon Center for the Arts with high-quality live jazz. We’ve opened the bar and pulled out a chair for you and your friends to take in some great jazz surrounded by the latest art exhibit! Your kind donations help make these events possible!

The program starts with an informative discussion led by Bruce. “Deconstructing Jazz” is Phares’ current pet project, in which visiting guest artists engage in discussions, demonstrations, and audience Q&A regarding music, jazz, improvisation, and inspiration, followed by a spirited 90 minute duet interspersed with more musical observations and topics!
