Kate Thompson has invited a selection of photographers to document identities and interiors of LGBTQ people of Vashon. For some, interiors and identities may, literally, be their stunning, Architectural Digest dwelling or the belongings of a teen’s bedroom. For other’s interiors and identities may be a visual homage to the path the LGBTQ rights movement has, for many decades, forged for people of all backgrounds to claim their own personal identities. The LGBTQ rights movement is a civil rights movement, not limited to people who identify as gay or queer. For young people questioning identities, for alternative families and their children, for people who’ve felt othered or outcast for being different or more colorful than the norm, interior identities is a celebration of the ways we all share similarities and the ways the differences between us make our communities richer and more beautiful places to live.
