Gray McKenna is a marine scientist, diver, artist, educator who fell in love with the Salish Sea while working aboard tallships in these waters. As the Kelp Program Specialist at Puget Sound Restoration Fund, a local nonprofit, they work on kelp forest conservation and restoration projects. Gray will introduce the wonderful world of kelp and share the collaborative efforts underway to conserve and restore these iconic ecosystems in Puget Sound.
Bianca Perla, Vashon Nature Center, says, “Gray McKenna is the program specialist for bull kelp habitat restoration at Puget Sound restoration fund, a nonprofit that likely has the most experience of any group in Puget Sound conducting kelp restoration. Gray will bring a well – informed perspective on kelp ecology and on the many current dynamics and challenges we face in terms of kelp as we navigate future pathways here on Vashon and across the region. I’m excited to be able to ask lots of questions myself!”
