VCA Will Require Proof of Vaccination at In-Person Concerts and Performances
Since re-opening the theatre for in-person events last April, Vashon Center for the Arts has enthusiastically and safely welcomed back islanders and art lovers to concerts and performances in our Kay White Hall theatre. Keeping our artists and patrons healthy and safe is essential to our mission and the work we do, and we are very proud that our programs have continued to operate safely throughout this pandemic. In order to continue on this positive path, we have a few announcements to share with our community.
VCA will be joining other performing arts organizations across the region in requiring proof of vaccination for entry to our Kay White Hall theatre. We join the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Edmonds Center for the Arts, Pacific Northwest Ballet, The 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT-A Contemporary Theatre, Seattle Rep, Village Theatre, and more to ensure a safe and vibrant return to the arts.
Effective immediately, VCA will require audience members to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for exempted persons) prior to entering the Kay White Hall theatre. Children under 12 and people with a medical or religious exemption that prevents vaccination must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance date. (Learn more about our proof of vaccination requirements here.)
VCA will continue a mandatory mask policy for all visitors entering our campus buildings, regardless of their vaccination status. The staff and board of directors strongly support this safety measure in light of the recent Delta variant surge that has taken a foothold in our community. Events offering concession purchases will require guests to consume beverages and food in our outdoor courtyard or breezeway areas where patrons can safely remove their masks while eating. (Per public health guidance, children aged 2 and under are not required to wear a mask.)
Guests visiting the Gallery to view the visual arts exhibits for short periods of time are not required to show proof of vaccination but will be required to wear their masks at all times, and to socially distance if other visitors are present.
Thank you for helping us do all we can to protect the health and safety of Vashon’s arts community.
Ticket holders unable to meet our vaccination and testing requirements can request a ticket refund or convert ticket value to a donation to VCA.
