Get in the holiday spirit and come see the marvelous creations that are on display for this year’s Holiday Gingerbread Contest. Believe it or not, we’ve got multiple entries for the Point Robinson Lighthouse – and they are brilliant! It’s a real tour-de-force of creative genius at work! Hours and hours of detail and craftsmanship went into each masterpiece.

And don’t forget to vote! We’ll be taking your votes to award three lucky winners $100 gift cards to Vashon Thriftway. Categories include: Most Creative Use of Gumdrops, Best Vashon Landmark, and Most Traditional Gingerbread House.

Big thanks to Vashon Thriftway for partnering with us to bring a bit of holiday cheer to our community.

They’ll be on display through December 24th. Voting ends on December 23rd.

Thank you to our holiday partner

The Nutcracker!

A holiday tradition at VCA, The Nutcracker has been beloved by island families and celebrated in our community every holiday season for decades. With The Kay stage shuttered for now, we’ve been hard at work to bring The Nutcracker to life and sprinkle a little holiday cheer to dancers and families in the only way possible – streaming a virtual Nutcracker medley!

More than 20 years of The Nutcracker videos have been edited to assemble a pastiche of footage into a single performance! Don’t miss this amazing compilation on December 12 at 7PM featuring Vashon dancers from across the years.

David Armstrong’s Broadway Nation Live: The Story Behind “White Christmas”

David Armstrong, Artistic Director Emeritus  of The 5th Avenue Theatre takes you inside the creation of the bestselling and most recorded song of all time as he tells the story of how a destitute, illiterate, Russian-Jewish immigrant named Irving Berlin became America’s Composer Laureate and invented an entirely new category of song.

Originally recorded on December 6, 2019 at the Kay White Hall, this performance features special guest Albert Evans, and musical performances by 5th Avenue Theatre stars Cayman Ilika and Eric Ankrim singing holiday hits from the Great American Songbook including “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm”, “White Christmas” and many more!
