Lyle Harris: Sacred Vessels

August 7th – August 22nd

This show is an expression of living at the shore of the Salish Sea. There are vases made from wormwood found on Vashon beaches. There are pieces made from old growth cedar and giant Black Walnut. There are spirit vessels and pieces to meditate on in twilight.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I am constantly inspired by the variety in color, density, grain pattern, sound, and texture found in wood. My workshop is my sanctuary. The hours I spend there are a creative meditation far removed from the frantic pace of modern living. The woodwork on exhibit in this show includes Madrone, Black Walnut, Black Locust, Douglas Fir, Maple, Birch, Holly and Cedar.

BIO
Vashon Island has been my home for 15 years. I have enjoyed a lifelong fascination with wood working. In recent years, my interest has centered on building cabinets, boxes and wood turning.
