Kay Hall Events

The Katherine L White Hall is a beautiful 300 seat theater that opened in 2016 as a home for people, art, music, laughter, theatre and dance on Vashon Island. This state-of-the-art facility has hosted local, regional and international talent including k.d. lang, Judy Collins, Leo Kottke, Matisyahu, David Grisman, Della Mae, and Paula Cole.

RENTALS

Vashon Center For The Arts would love to host your special gathering. The Center is available to both public and private groups to rent for private events, parties, off-site meetings and retreats, lectures and much more.

Vashon Center For The Arts produces several wonderful series, including Art History Talks, Arts & Humanities lectures, Jazz Series, The Classics at VCA Series, and our Family Series.

By special arrangement, VCA is honored to welcome “Slava” Gryanznov to our stage for an invigorating program of Rachmaninoff and Debussy. Slava will give a pre-concert lecture on the Rachmaninoff Six Moments Musicaux, Ravel Gaspard de la Nuit, and his own transcription of Debussy's Afternoon of the Faun. The lecture is included in the ticket price.

The prodigious writer Brian Doyle, whose humorous and poignant prose earned him several prestigious awards and a national reputation, died of brain cancer in 2017 at the too-young age of 60. His voice lives on through his far-ranging stories, essays, and novels that are brimming with universal, life-changing truths. The evening will be moderated by Mike Feinstein and will offer a spirited discussion of his life and work with some of the people who knew him best.

Symphony Tacoma principles Svend Ronning and Thane Lewis will perform Mozart’s spectacular “Sinfonia Concertante” for violin, viola and orchestra. Swedish composer Dag Wirén’s “Serenade for Strings” will round out the March program. Wirén’s credo, ‘I believe in God, Mozart and Carl Nielsen’ makes his light and entertaining serenade a fitting pairing for the great “Sinfonia Concertante.”

Jay Thomas, a native of Seattle who grew up in the middle of the fertile jazz scene of the sixties, is a versatile multi-instrumentalist (trumpet, flugelhorn, saxophones, and flutes). His music has been described as earthy and lyrical with the blues and swing always in evidence. "You can recognize jazz as an art form," says Mr. Thomas, "but remember, it also used to be danced to. And that became part of people's lives."
