Vashon Ceramics Group Show, curated by Jon-Eric Schafer and Lin Holley: 25+ ceramic artists exhibit raku, high-fire, wheel-thrown, hand-built and wood-fired ceramic art.

Vashon Makerspace, curated by Neil Wiesblott, including: Linda Stemer, Norman Edson, Victoria Hunter, James Chesney, Izak Anderson, Lyle Harris. Vashon Makerspace is a place where islanders can create, learn and share their art, will be represented with a large multi-discipline installation including an 8-foot wood chair, a 1200-pound cement chair, alternative photographic processes, handmade sculptural jewelry, and lathe-turned wooden vases and bowls.
Vashon Ceramic Artists will be doing two weekends of demonstrations and participatory events.
Saturday, August 11 12:00pm – 5:00 pm Ceramic artists will be on hand demonstrating the techniques they work with, including hand-building and wheel throwing.
Saturday, August 11 1:00pm – 2:30pm Space and supply for kids to create their clay masterpieces. These works will be fired and then brought by the following weekend (August 18) for kids to glaze, fired and take home.
Saturday, August 18 (2nd weekend) 12:00pm – 5:00pm Demonstration of hand-building and wheel throwing by Vashon Ceramic artists. Plus, two Raku kilns will be set up with all the accompanying paraphernalia to fire posts brought in by the participating artists and from the kids workshop.
Saturday, August 18 (2nd weekend) 1:00pm – 2:30pm The kids work from the previous Saturday (August 11) will be fired and brought back to VCA for the kids to glaze. They will be Raku fired for them to take home.
