Maskmaking, Wine, and Cheese
Sunday, August 26, 1-5 pm
Tuition: $55 Member, $60 General + $20 materials fee
Instructor: Britt Freda
Used for celebration, storytelling, seduction, and warding off evil, masks are a creative tradition in many cultures. Inspired by the creative works of Northwest artist Terra Holcomb and Andy Goldsworthy, participants will be encouraged to combine drawing and painting with natural sculptural materials. Base paper pulp masks, acrylic paint, hot glue, plant materials, flowers, cedar bows, shells, feathers and more will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring additional drawing, painting, jewels, flowers, plant materials, stones, shells, cones, love letters, collage and any other inspiring construction materials to use in the creation of their piece. Join us for an enjoyable afternoon, whether you are creating a piece to wear to the VCA auction, or to display at home. Britt studied painting at St. Lawrence University and in Italy at Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute of Art in Florence. Britt’s paintings have won critical acclaim. Her work is found in private collections, galleries and museum exhibitions nationwide.
