Japanese Tea Ceremony – Summer Arts Fest

Using a Rye-rei, a special table for doing table chair style Japanese Tea Ceremony, Ms. Koyoko Matsuda, Sensei in the Omotesenke School of Tea, will host a Tea Ceremony demonstration. This demonstration in conjunction with the installation of a translucent Japanese Tea House using photographic transparencies in the Koch Gallery (August 3 – August 19) A collaborative exhibit of Chadogu (literally Tools for Tea), will be on display at Judd Creek Ranch Gallery (22237 103rd Av SW, Vashon) at the same time. There you can enjoy a bowl of tea and learn more about Chanoyu.

The Japanese tea ceremony is a Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha, powdered green tea.
